Call for Help
I’m putting together a list of published SF/F/H writers who are under the age of 5, and I was hoping some of my knowledgeable readers could add to my list. Know of any young SF/F/H writers not mentioned here?
Also, if you know someone on the list is 5 or older, please let me know so I can cross him/her off the list. This is for a project I’m working on that I’m not at liberty to discuss at the moment, but I’d appreciate any help you fine folks could offer.
Some of these authors have resumes more impressive than others, but the only real criteria I have is that the author in question have at least one professional sale.
I recently collaborated on a rousing adventure tale with a promising four-year-old storyteller. I don’t think I can share his name without his parents’ permission, however.
I’m four, and I’ve sold a couple stories to pro magazines.
Do you specifically mean “under 5″? Do pro-published authors in the womb qualify?
I was in the womb when I made my first pro sale. I’m not sure if that excludes me from the list since you’re compiling pro authors “under 5.”
Isn’t Lucy 5? I think I saw her in the latest SFWA directory!
Hey Earl. Actually, my birthday is in October, so I’m 4 until 10/03/05. Thanks!
I have a story published at Cricket, and I’m 2 tomorrow.
I’m deeply depressed to have to inform you that I, in fact, recently turned eight.
I was an idiot in my toddler years. All my attempts at writing were mortifying, and I’m glad none of them have seen the light of day. People under 5 belong in playpens, not in magazines.
Ha, that’s funny. I suppose we should poke fun at anyone who tries to do something to benefit young writers?
Wow, that didn’t take long.
It’s not making fun of you. Honest.
Ha, that’s funny. I suppose we should poke fun at anyone who tries to do something to benefit young writers?
Of course we should. Plus anyone else who lives with any hope, charity, sense of altruism, justice, or taste. It’s what you sons of bitches get down on your knees and beg for every day!
I am so completely tired of these YOUNG TURKS taking over the field! Look you kids need to grow up and get some experience before you think you can write a really good twist ending and sell stories. Those doesn’t come out of thin air. I’m in elementary school and it took me a LONG TIME to completely hammer any originality out of my prose. Now look at me! I’m in Writers of the Future! Bling-bling!
Thor, why don’t you go wet yourself? After I watch Veggie Tales I’m going to sit down and write 9,000 words. And then post about it-no one can stop me!
Thor, why don’t you go wet yourself? After I watch Veggie Tales I’m going to sit down and write 9,000 words. And then post about it-no one can stop me! In 1.5 years you’ll be at my kaffeklatch at Worldcon begging me to pay attention to you!
Alan, what criteria for “pro sale” are you using? Does Ben Rosenbaum’s blog count?
My kids were five and seven when their manuscript “The Penguin, Mammoth, Monkey Show” was produced and aired on the Silly Thinking network. A Sequel was recently produced which included writing from two year old Simon Lain.
Check out “The Penguin, Mammoth, Monkey Show 2-Escape from Alcatraz”.
